THE CIVIL WARS
I simply adore The Civil Wars, especially the vocals of Joy Williams, who sings harmony and occasionally plays piano. She's so funny, their lyrics are all dark and depressing, yet she sings with a huge smile on her face, as if she's just so freakin' happy to be singing.
The Civil Wars are a duo, with John Paul White on guitar and vocals and Joy Williams accompanying him. They both write their songs and they are just so very gifted. They broke up not long ago and it broke my heart. I know they still had a lot of good music up their sleeves. However, I'm happy that they gave us as much music as they did, I treasure it.
Please watch the video for their song, Poison and Wine. It's excellent.
Love and peace,
Kelli

If you watch the TV show Nashville, you will recognize their music, and especially the harmony.
Yes and they did a song with Taylor Swift called Safe and Sound. It's Taylor Swift's best song by far.
I love them and Poison and Wine was the song that first broke my heart. Were they an actual couple at one time? It seems like it. Thanks for a touching review, Miss Kelli!
Thank you Kitty Cat! No, they are both married to other people even though it seems like they are in love with each other when you watch them together. I just wonder if things got complicated.
I was intrigued with the Civil Wars when I heard them on the CD you sent me... I found some more of their stuff and I agree, their music is just hauntingly, quietly beautiful. I like it.
Cool! Always glad to turn you on to good music.
